Weatherbee Consulting

 

Weatherbee hires experienced consultants to work with clients, teach and develop products. Weatherbee is fortunate to have a cadre of Associate Consultants, not listed here, with extensive experience working in hospice settings.  

Our highly qualified team work together to assist clients improve their operational performance, manage and find solutions to existing problems, develop best practices, and prepare for future change and challenges in the hospice industry.

Weatherbee consultants have had extensive experience working and managing hospice programs throughout the country. Whether large or small this expertise is evident in every project we undertake.

Lynn Stange

RN, BSN, MA, CHC, Principal / President

Lynn Stange is the Principal / President and co-owner of Weatherbee Resources. Lynn re- joined Weatherbee in 2017 as the Chief Compliance and Integrity Officer.

 

In her role, Lynn is responsible for strategic growth initiatives in the areas of compliance, quality, and education. Lynn also works with consulting clients in the areas of Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), mock surveys and compliance audits, pursuit of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and program development. Lynn oversees all aspects of Weatherbee’s Hospice Compliance Network (HCN). Lynn’s breadth of experience with a variety of regulations and standards allows her to connect with clients quickly to aid them in identifying their most critical needs thereby assuring excellent outcomes.

Lynn is a nationally recognized speaker in both the hospice and compliance arenas, having spoken at both the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) annual Management and Leadership Conference and at the annual Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) national conference. Lynn is a member of the NHPCO Regulatory Committee since 2014. As a member of Weatherbee’s Speaker’s Bureau, Lynn teaches on a variety of regulatory, compliance, and leadership-related topics and is a permanent faculty member of Weatherbee’s renowned Hospice Regulatory Boot Camp.

Lynn has been a registered nurse for 30+ years with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Carroll College in Helena, Montana and a master’s degree in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix, Las Vegas. Lynn has been a State surveyor in both Montana and Nevada and earned her Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) in 2014.

Carrie Cooley

RN, MSN, Principal / Chief Executive Officer

Carrie Cooley is the Principal / Chief Executive Officer and co-owner of Weatherbee Resources. Carrie joined Weatherbee in 2009 as an Associate Consultant and was hired as the Consulting Coordinator in 2012. 

 

In 2014, Carrie was promoted to Director of the Consulting Division and in July 2015, was promoted to the COO position. In July 2018, Carrie and Lynn Stange purchased Weatherbee Resources from owners Heather Wilson and Joy Barry. Carrie's operational, clinical, and regulatory expertise has been instrumental in her professional growth with Weatherbee and in serving Weatherbee's clients.

In her role as COO, Carrie ensures Weatherbee's consulting services, products, and education are provided in a professional and cost effective manner, and are specifically tailored to meet each client's individual needs. She is an integral part of the strategic planning committee, assuring Weatherbee is positioned to assist hospices with the ever-changing regulatory hospice environment.

 

Carrie's regulatory expertise and extensive consulting experience includes forensic clinical record auditing, baseline compliance audits/mock surveys, interim management, clinical due diligence, and 

executive coaching. Carrie also works directly with clients' legal counsel in preparation for arbitration and other hearings; she serves as an expert witness. Weatherbee also works extensively with clients who are under a Corporate Integrity Agreement (CIA); Carrie and her team manage the Independent Review Organization (IRO) audit activities  required by the Office of Inspector General (OIG). Carrie's excellent rapport with executives and staff alike –coupled with her regulatory and clinical acumen, and knowledge of best practices – assures excellent consulting outcomes.

 

Under Carrie's leadership, Weatherbee has assisted hundreds of clients under investigation by Zone Program Integrity Contractors (ZPIC), Benefit Integrity Support Centers (BISC), Recovery Auditors (RA), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and OIG. As a member of Weatherbee's Speaker's Bureau, Carrie teaches a broad range of hospice, regulatory, and leadership-related topics nationally and is a member of the faculty for Weatherbee's renowned Hospice Regulatory Boot Camps. Carrie also frequently speaks at state and national hospice conferences on compliance-related topics. Carrie is a registered nurse and holds a Master's degree from Samford University with a specialty in nursing leadership and healthcare finance.

Pauline Judge

CAP-OM, Manager, Events & Operations

Pauline is the Manager, Events & Operations having previously served as the HEN Administrator prior to the sale of the Hospice Education Network (HEN) to Relias, LLC, in 2013. In this position, she was at the center of operations for all activities related to HEN subscribers, exhibiting at trade shows, pre- and post-production of courses, managing HEN databases and working with HEN faculty. 

Pauline's current responsibilities include Weatherbee's line of products, management of all aspects of the Hospice Compliance Network (HCN) including monthly webinars, and set-up of the renowned Hospice Regulatory Boot Camp.

With more than 30 years' experience in the administrative field, Pauline served in the U.S. Army for six years followed by administrative positions in the pharmaceutical and hospital industries. She is a Certified Administrative Professional with a specialty in Organizational Management through the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) where she has served as the local chapter's President, Certification, and Newsletter Chair.

Nikki Knowles

Office Manager

Nikki joined Weatherbee in July 2018 and serves the team as Office Manager. Nikki has a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of Early Child Development from the University of South Florida, Tampa. She was an elementary school teacher for 13 years, Director of a local Child Development Center, and worked as Program Coordinator for a corporate business office in Tampa.

 

While Nikki’s professional experiences were centered in the field of education, her passion for writing, editing, and organizational management tools prompted her to make a career change.

 

As Office Manager, Nikki manages a great deal of Weatherbee’s infrastructure, serves as a consistent contact for clients and collaborators, explores and expands social media outreach, and supports the Weatherbee staff in various capacities.
